After completing the first two rounds of the 2022 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season with a different team, Antonio Serravalle is returning to the Indy Lights paddock this weekend with a new team – HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing. The Canadian driver will still carry the #11 on his HMD prepared entry as he joins Linus Lundqvist, Daniel Frost, Christian Bogle and Benjamin Pedersen (Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports) in the five car program.
“I would like to say a big thank you to Bill Abel, John Brunner, and everyone at Abel Motorsports for all the support and opportunities that they provided,” explained Antonio Serravalle. “For giving us a race-by-race program and not letting me miss any of the first two event weekends. I’m happy that there was an opportunity open where I can join HMD Motorsports, which is a highly successful and experienced team. I feel good after the test last week at Mid-Ohio and look forward to this weekend and the rest of the 2022 season.”
After claiming two top-ten finishes in the opening two rounds of the season, Serravalle is eager to work his way up through the field and in the standings. Last week, Serravalle joined HMD Motorsports at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for a team test, along with the four other HMD Motorsports entries, as well as five other Indy Lights drivers. In his first test with HMD, Serravalle finished the day in fifth after only a few hours of running.
While Serravalle did not start the season with HMD Motorsports, this is not the first time he has been linked with the team. Serravalle was set to join HMD Motorsports for the 2020 Indy Lights season prior to the season being canceled. Leading up to the season, Serravalle and the team worked together at multiple test events.
With a new team behind him, Serravalle is getting a fresh start to the 2022 Indy Lights season and is anxious to hit the track this weekend for a doubleheader event weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The weekend will begin on Friday with practice, qualifying and race one. The second race of the weekend will take place on Saturday morning, before the NTT INDYCAR SERIES hits the track for the GRM Grand Prix.
Antonio Serravalle would like to give a huge thanks to HMD Motorsports, Dale Coyne Racing, LedgeMark Homes / livgreen, Tycoon Capital Limited, TriBrik, Camptech ll Circuits, Coshore, Ferrari & Associates, Scuderia Ferrari Club Canada, Med-Scan and Sabelt.
