A multi-time victor in the USF Pro Championships, including four race wins, seven podiums, and two pole positions in the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires program, Reece Gold will join HMD Motorsports for the remainder of the 2023 season. Set to pilot the #10 car vacated by Rasmus Lindh, Gold will drive the yellow and black Ticket Clinic branded machine as he looks to add to HMD Motorsports results resume.
“I am excited to join a winning program,” explained Gold. “HMD Motorsports has been one of the teams to beat the past two or three seasons, and I am happy to finally be racing with them, and not against them.”
Gold, who has earned seven wins in the USF Pro Championships in the past three years, including four trips to the top step of the podium in 2022, is an accomplished driver with his eyes set on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Amassing 24 podium results over the same time frame as well as seven pole positions and eight fastest race laps, Gold will join the championship-leading efforts of HMD Motorsports.
Gold continued, “My goal is to do well, but also gain experience for the 2024 season. With HMD Motorsports, I know the podium is attainable and my learning curve with the engineering team and a big driver lineup will be accelerated.”
“We spoke to Reece in June of 2022, but he chose to go a different direction,” added HMD Motorsports General Manager Mike Maurini. “Rather than get upset about his decision and burn a bridge, we kept the door open for the future, and we welcome him to the HMD Motorsports family.”
With a test set for May 8 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Reece Gold, HMD Motorsports, and the rest of the INDY NXT by Firestone grid will return to race action next week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Grand Prix Weekend, May 12-13.
